While I was working on promoting the show/book signing - what should appear online at Amazon and Barnes & Nobel...?
DIAMOND STARS A Novel of the 1934 All-Star Baseball Game !! So - for all of you who won't be able to come and pick up your copy in person on May 11 or 12 or 18 or 19... Let the 1934 All-Star Game begin! We have been told that there will be a Kindle / Nook (etc) edition available in the not too distant future - but Dog Ear Publications (our publishing house) puts the printed book out first. Thanks again to all of you who read these posts and are cheering us on! Looks like DIAMOND STARS is rounding third and heading for home!
"Hi Peter, This is perfect...we are all set to upload your book to press." Yes...this is really happening! "...the book files will first need to work through a series of quality checks before printing can begin...approximately 7-10 days to complete." Not much more to say...so we will sign off - leaving you with a first look at our cover art. We are so grateful. Thanks for sharing this moment with us... Our long-awaited novel, DIAMOND STARS, is about to see the light of day! To mark that event, give thanks that our long wait is indeed over...and... just because we feel like it – Van Lingle Mungo, a pivotal character in our novel, will be coming alongside for the festivities!
On Friday, May 11 - Saturday, May 12 (and also F/S May 18/19) our play, MUNGO!, will make another appearance at The Complex - Hollywood / Ruby Theater...Van will tell his story in conjunction with a signing / release celebration! for our book. The evening begins at 8:00 with a one hour performance of MUNGO! followed immediately by a book release party for DIAMOND STARS - A Novel of the 1934 All-Star Baseball Game. Tickets and information at: https://mungo.brownpapertickets.com Looking forward to seeing you there! ...in person and in spirit. 22 March
"Attached is a PDF of the pages we would like to submit for corrections. I will also list our notes below." A slow and careful review of each page yielded less than a dozen corrections, mostly on our side...the book has been passed back to Dog Ear for what will hopefully be the final round... 04 April "The Revised Pass Pages of your book are now available for review through your Author Projects System." Checked everything through - only one change to the Table of Contents. Hoping the final pass comes back so we can make the approval next week! The wait wasn't long - we received the proof of the cover design in less than two weeks and after looking it over carefully for a few days we marked it Approved To Print!
The designer is a real craftsman - with the few photos we supplied and our explanation of what we wanted - he put together a cover that was right on the mark! Score another 'well done' for Dog Ear Publications! 16 January
The proofs arrived! This did not include the entire book - but samples from the beginning and the end... Proceeded to read and make notes - sending these notes and scans of the pages that needed changes in the formatting and text... 26 January Our change requests for the sample pages were received at Dog Ear... ...meanwhile - Jim and I had been meeting and searching Getty images for pictures that would support our book cover concept. Since our book is creative (fiction) and not editorial (non-fiction) we were very limited when it came to old baseball photos... 22 February We received the First Pass Pages - the entire book - ready to review and approve/make changes. 28 February We finalized the cover - the last piece of the puzzle was a photo of the old Polo Grounds in NYC - where the 1934 AS game was played. The searching paid off and we actually found an image that was not for editorial use only! 13 December
Uploaded the manuscript for DIAMOND STARS - along with two Author's Bios and an Introduction ...crafted to fit Dog Ear's word count specifications... Thanksgiving Eve – 2017
Drafts have been written and re-written. Editors have plied their trade. And all the finer points of DIAMOND STARS have been discussed and scrutinized. It is time to take the next step. We are thankful for the Thanksgiving Eve discount that prompted us on and we have cut a deal with Dog Ear Publications – our self-publishing house of choice. One more read through and then we upload our manuscript. It is getting closer..... Here's a toast to 'next year' (as in "Wait 'till next year...") It has arrived!
After a surgery that forced us to cancel last years production - we are rosy cheeked, back in business and ready to let MUNGO! out of the bag and onto the stage at The COMPLEX for six performances at the Hollywood Fringe Festival this coming June!! ...the result was 6 sold out performances and lots of ‘buzz’ for MUNGO! We will be forever grateful! |
